EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

The Malta Medicines Authority International Fellowship Programme

The key objectives of the Malta Medicines Authority (MMA) International Fellowship Programme are to:

  • Assist people to pursue further levels of academic research;
  • Reduce the skills mismatch, particularly within the pharmaceutical and life sciences sector;
  • Contribute to the consolidation of expertise on emerging and challenging topics relevant to innovative therapies and technologies;
  • Increase the capacity and level of research, innovation and development activity in Malta;
  • Support the implementation of the MMA 2016-2020 Strategy and the Framework for Education Strategy for Malta 2014-2024.

 

In line with the Framework for Education Strategy for Malta 2014-2024, and following the success of the MMA Traineeship, the Authority aims to extend this opportunity started in 2014.

Applications are being considered for the following four streams.

Stream 1

Applicants are required to follow a Doctor in Pharmacy course or a comparable, equivalent and pertinent qualification at Malta Qualifications Framework (MQF) Level 8, or a Doctor of Philosophy with a commitment to carry out the research on the objectives of the Malta Medicines Authority, which course shall start not later than six (6) months from commencement date.

The Malta Medicines Authority or the host institution will:

  • Either, pay the fees associated to the course up to a maximum of €37,500 for the duration of the course. The selected participants are required to participate in a fellowship at the Malta Medicines Authority or the agreed host institution for a period of three years, with an average of eighty (80) hours every four (4) weeks.
  • Or, provide a grant of €962 for eighty (80) hours of service every four (4) weeks [unless otherwise agreed by both parties], or pro rata thereof, subject to a fellowship at the Malta Medicines Authority or the agreed host institution.

Stream 2

Applicants are required to follow a Master of Science in Pharmacy, or a comparable, equivalent and pertinent qualification at MQF Level 7, which course shall start not later than six (6) months from commencement date.

A grant of €800 for eighty (80) hours of service every four (4) weeks [unless otherwise agreed by both parties], or pro rata thereof, will be provided subject to a fellowship at the Malta Medicines Authority or the agreed host institution.

 

Applicants interested in undertaking the International Fellowship Programme within the MMA are requested to send the following documents on hr.medicinesauthority@gov.mt

  1. An updated Curriculum Vitae.
  2. A signed copy of the Declaration of Interest (Appendix 1).
  3. A signed copy of the Data Protection Notice (Appendix 2).
  4. A valid police conduct (Certified translation in English).
  5. An acknowledgment letter or email that you have applied to follow one of the courses mentioned in the above streams, or letter or email of acceptance, or proof of registration.
  6. A copy of your Identity Card or Passport.
  7. A written confirmation that you have funds available for the living expenses in Malta (Foreign, non-Maltese applicants only).
  8. An official recognition by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) of your qualification, in case of courses that are not from the University of Malta.
  9. Applicants eligible for the International Fellowship Programme within the MMA will be contacted within one (1) month and called for an interview. Published results will remain valid for six (6) months from date of issue.
  10. This Expression of Interest is valid for one (1) year from date of issue, unless fund are exhausted before closing date.
